Russian fishing vessel gutted by fire
On June 9, 2022, at 12.40 a.m. a fire broke out in the engine room of the 'Iklarand' on the anchorage of Amur Bay near Ushi island in the Sea of Japan and spread to the superstructure. All 17 crew members were evacuated from the ship by a vessel of the Maritime Rescue Service, the "Capital Balashov", the SAR vessel "Vityaz", as well as the "Lotos" and the 'BL-820.' In addition, the vessel traffic control system of the Far Eastern Basin Branch of Rospormport participated in the evacuation. The 70 years old captain was injured and received the necessary medical assistance at a local hopsital. The 'Iklarand' remained afloat, no fuel spill was observed. The Maritime Rescue Service and the Far Eastern Expeditionary Rescue Team were deployed to fight the fire with the 'Vostok Veliky' and 'Spasatel Suvorovets'. The total area of fire was about 400 square meters, so the vessel was largely gutted. The prosecutor's office was checking compliance with fire safety requirements and ensuring the safety of navigation.
