Trawler saved disabled yacht off Lofoten Islands
On Aug 1, 2013, the "Hanna W" saved five people on their 25-ft-sailboat "Vesta" which was in distress in a strong storm off the Lofoten Islands. Also the trawlers "Øksnesværing" and "Øynes" were on standby until the "Hanna W" finally managed to take the yacht in tow in hurricane-force winds with wave heights of 2-3 meters. It turned out that there were only two life jackets on board the yacht. The trawler went as close to the sailboat as possible, and after a little struggle a line was thrwon on board and five lifejackets were pulled abouard the yacht which ran straight towards some rocks and shallows and was about 400 meters from these when a towing line was attached. It took a lifeboat two hours to reach the site coming from Svolvær for further assistance. The yacht was towed to Ramberg. It had been underway from Kvalvika to Ramberg when the engine failed and the storm increased. Report with photos and video: http://www.redningsselskapet.no/ditt-farvann/nordland/reddet-i-storm
