Fishing vessels aground at Amsteldiep
In the evening of Jan 6, 2016, the Den Helder KNRM-lifeboat "Joke Dijkstra" was alerted to two stranded fishing vessels. The "Rik Jelle - WR 212" ran aground at the Amsteldiep, followed by the "Elizabeth Halber - EH 44" which got stuck itself while trying to assist the colleagues. The "Joke Dijkstra" set course to Amsteldiep short past midnight. The jets of the boat were used to wash away the sand at the grounded cutters. Then the lifeboat got them quickly off. The Wieringer cutter had his propeller still in the water and after some pulling backed off, followed by the Enkhuizer cutter short time later. Shrimper grounded off Schelp
On Dec 2, 2015, at 11.44 a.m. the crew of the lifeboat "Adriaan Hendrik" from Egmond upon Sea was alerted after the "Rik Jelle - WR 212" had run aground on a sandbar off the beach pavillon at Schelp while fishing shrimps. After the lifeboat had reached the ship in the surf half an hour later, it managed to establish a towing connection. Within 10 minutes after the arrival, a wire was connected, then the bow of the f/v turned towards the sea and then the shrimper was pulled off and escorted to deeper water by the lifeboat.
