Iranian oil tanker now bound for Southern Malaysia
The fully loaded Iranian tanker Hamoon is now heading toward the southern Malaysia port of Tanjung Pelepas, near Singapore. The Hamoon, owned by National Iranian Tanker Co., set its destination to Tanjung Pelepas on March 17 and was traveling at 8.8 knots. The ship signaled on March 9 that it was headed to Singapore. The Hamoon is 22 meters (72 feet) deep in the water, compared with a maximum draft of 22.2 meters, the data shows. A National Iranian official contacted in Tehran on March 11 said the ship was heading to Singapore. The final buyer for the cargo and destination wasn’t known, the official said, declining to be identified because of company policy. Data on destinations are usually entered by ships’ officers and are sometimes subject to errors.
Iranian VLCC HAMOON Delivers Fuel Oil To Singapore
As gCaptain reports, Iran is shipping fuel oil to Singapore using a supertanker from its own fleet as Western sanctions make it difficult for buyers to lift cargoes off Iranian coasts. Hamoon, a Very Large Crude Carrier, is expected to land in Singapore around March 25 with about 280,000 metric tons of fuel oil, said a trader with a company that usually buys fuel oil from Iran. The ship is carrying about 200,000 tons of 380-cst HSFO from the Bandar Abbas refinery and about 80,000 tons of 280-cst straight-run fuel from Bandar Mahshahr. The cargo was likely sold to European trader Vitol, the trader said, but this couldn’t be confirmed. A Vitol trader declined to comment. http://gcaptain.com/iranian-vlcc-delivers-fuel-singapore/?42476
