Freighter suffered engine failure
The "Hekla", en route from Klaipeda to Cork with a crew of eight on board, carrying 3.300 tonnes of fertilizer and 56.5 tonnes of MGO, suffered an engine failure in position 51 08 15N, 01 34 24.6E on July 9, 2018. The problem was fixed in 30 minutes and the vessel resumed the voyage to Cork.
Ship got stuck in Kiel Canal
On July 2, 2016, at 3.30 a.m. the "Hekla" ran aground on the embankment of the Kiel Canal near Sehestedt close to the wharf at Steinwehr enroute from Gdansk to Bremen. The canal was barred for shipping for short time before the traffic control Brunsbüttel allowed ship traffic in one way direction between Rade and Königsförde. The tug "Kiel" was dispatched from Kiel and pulled the ship back into the fairway at 7 a.m. The tug then escorted the "Hekla" to the communal port in Rendsburg where it berthed at 7.50 a.m. and the water Police Kiel boarded the ship for investigations. A diver was called for a hull survey. At 2 p.m. the ship was allowed to continue the voyage, ETA Bremen July 2, 10 p.m.
Hekla refloated
The tug "Fenja" (IMO: 9192076) refloated the "Hekla" at Drejens Odde in the Kolding Fjord in the morning of Mar 18. The cargo ship berthed at the North Quay in Kolding at 10.30 a.m. for inspections and to be unloaded. Danish report with photos: http://www.tvsyd.dk/artikel/saa-kom-hekla-i-havn
