GT USA marks first heavy lift cargo service at Port Canaveral with maiden call of M.V. Happy Dynamic
GT USA welcomed the M.V. Happy Dynamic of the BigLift Shipping fleet to Port Canaveral, marking the first heavy lift vessel to call at Canaveral Cargo Terminal. The Happy Dynamic transported heavy lift cargo from China to the Canaveral Cargo Terminal. The ship is one of BigLift Shipping’s five Happy D-type vessels, flexible, heavy lift ships equipped with two NMF cranes with a SWL of 400 mt and one NMF crane with a SWL of 120 mt. “The Happy Dynamic’s successful call and discharge of oversized and overweight cargo to Canaveral Cargo Terminal is a milestone for showcasing the flexibility and advantage Port Canaveral offers as one of Florida’s newest multipurpose terminals,” said Peter Richards, CEO of GT USA. Joe Cruise, commercial manager of GT USA, marked the vessel call May 24, 2017, by presenting a commemorative plaque to Captain J.J.J. de Boer of the M.V. BigLift Shipping transports two Siwertell CSUs
Earlier this month, BigLift Shipping’s Happy Dynamic successfully transported two 560 mt Siwertell Continuous Ship Unloaders (CSUs) from Chioggia, Italy, to Liverpool, UK. The CSUs are 35 m high and 24 m wide and, when in service, have a discharge capacity of 1,200 tons / hour. Both were loaded completely assembled – ready to be taken into service after discharge.
Officer cut off finger
The 3d officer of the "Happy Dynamic" had to be medevacted with cut off finger on Sep 24, 2015, in position 53 45N 167 36E, about 300 miles off Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy. The vessel changed course and headed for Petropavlovsk. At 05.20 a.m. on Sep 25 the officer was transferred to Petropavlovsk. The ship then resumed the voyage from Changshu to the Sabetta LNG construction site in the Kara Sea.
