The MRCC Vladivostok was alerted after a fire broke out in the engine room of the "Iman" in the morning of Nov 24, 2017, in the Japan Sea, 210 miles off Vladivostok. The loaded vehicles carrier was en route from Toyama to Vladivostok with a Russian crew oof 21 on board. The engine room was sealed and the fire extinguishing system activated. The fire could be extinguished, but the ship was disabled and adrift, so that the offshore supply tug "Neftegaz 55" (IMO: 8418459) was dispatched to tow disabled ship to Vladivostok. Only on Nov 12 the second officer of the ship had been found dead, while it was docked at the Toyama Shinko port. Later one crew member was arrested as a suspect in murdering him. The "Iman" was allowed to leave port after all formalities and investigations on Nov 21, only to run into trouble again.
