Fishing vessels in slight collision
The "Hannibal 2", 145 gt, was in minor contact with an Italian flagged fishing vessel off Lampedusa, on May 11, 2018. No injuries reported. The MRCC Rome was notified.
Crew arrested after excessive amount of fuel was found
Four Egyptians and a Maltese were arrested after the Maltese army found an excessive amount of fuel on board the "Dimitra". The Armed Forces of Malta stopped the fishing vessel Dimitra in the evening of MAy 9, 2013. During a search, army personnel noticed the vessel was carrying an excessive amount of fuel stored in precarious and hazardous conditions. The army escorted the vessel to Malta and it was berthed close to the shipyards in Marsa. The crew members were handed over to the police.
