The "Navig8 Tourmaline", whilst proceeding in the Terschelling - German Bight traffic separation scheme on Feb 25, 2019, at 3.540 a.m. in pos. 53 38 36 N, 005 05 00 E, the vessel made a controlled stop of its propulsion system to assess an alleged malfunction on the main engine cylinder oil lubricator. The weather conditions were favourable, and no navigational threats were identified. To mitigate any navigational threat and for extra safety, the vessel command in consultation with the technical operator of the Den Helder Coast Guard took the decision to slow down and to anchor at safe place after leaving the Traffic Separation Scheme at a safe place. The engine crew and the technical superintendent investigated the alarm of the cylinder oil lubricationof the main engine automation. To mitigate any risk, it was decided to replace the cylinder oil lubricator with a spare part. An applicable test as per manufacturer guidance was completed and vessel resumed the voyage from Emden to Point Lisas within three hours, ETA March 3.
