Tanker disabled by explosion
On March 22, 2020, at 4.30 p.m. an explosion allegedly occurred in the engine room aof the 'Gulf Petroleum 4' in pos. 32 00 N 015 55 E off the Libyan coast. A number of crew members weas injured and in need of medical assistance. The tanker was disabled and adrift. It had been engaged in operations in the Gulf of Sidra since March 16 after leaving Benghazi, where it had arrived on March 13, coming from Sharjah with a cargo of jet oil for the Libyan National Army (LNA). It had left Benghazi on March 16. The tanker was seized by the Libyan army in the evening of March 22 to be taken to an army-controlled port for investigations. The tanker sailed from Misurata on Oct 23 at 10 a.. and berthed in Khoms at 6 p.m.
