Gretha to sail in Southern Germany after repairs
After the series of mishaps the "Gretha van Holland" will leave the seas of Mecklenburg. The ship got a permittance to return from Parchim towards the Elbe. The voyage has meanwhile started. In the Netherlands the ship is to undergo a complete repar and will be used in southern Germany then. The permission to sail on the Müritz-Elde-Waterway had been cancelled.
Emergency repair to last two weeks
The "Gretha van Holland" remained berthed in Parchim for the time being and will continue sailing in two weeks at the earliest according to the water police Schwerin after its wheelhouse was torn off. After an emergency repair the ship will proceed to a yard at the Müritz fahren with police escort for further repairs and an investigation of the draught.

The "Gretha van Holland" allided with a lock gate in Parchim on May 4, 2019, at 6.20 p.m. The wheelhouse of the ship was crushed, and the gate was completely torn off. The ship had been allowed to undertake a single voyage on the Müritz-Elde-Waterway after its latest accident to be repaired in Waren. The allision was caused by a mistake of the helmsman who had not lowered the wheelhouse in time when leaving the lock.
