Freighter allided with Shooter's Dock
The "Great Republic" struck the dock of Shooters on the Water and a recreational boat on the Cuyahoga River on July 2, 2017, shortly after 6 p.m. while making a turn. The recreational boat was moored in a no-mooring zone — one of the ten safety locations along the river where boats are prohibited from anchoring or tying up as to provide ships ample space to make turns on the tight and twisty waterway. The boat didn't sustain any damage, nor did the freighter, and there were no injuries. The collision did do some damage to Shooter's dock. An investigating officer of the US Coast Guard was dispatched to the scene on July 3 and was waiting on an estimate from the riverside restaurant. The ship left Cleveland on July 3 and headed to Detroit.
