Suspicious vessel off Greek
Greece’s intelligence services and Coast guard as well as foreign authorities have been put on alert over the last few days due to what was described as a suspicious cargo ship which set sail from Mersin to Alexandria. There were suspicions that the 'Grace A' was transporting military equipment to the Ankara-backed government in Libya, in violation of the arms embargo on the country. It set sail from Mersin on March 6, 2020, and was last located on April 7 off Cyprus, south of Larnaca, and has since turned off its AIS. Greek officials confirmed that the ship’s movements alerted authorities, but said that, until April 10, its destination and cargo had not been clarified.
Medevac from disabled cargo ship
The "Bee Master" issued a distress signal on Dec 14, 2015, at 07.30 a.m. in position 33 36N 031 18E, about 90 miles southwest of Cyprus after having been disabled and adrift since Dec 11. It turned out that a crew member had fallen ill and was in need of medical care. He was medevaced by the Greek Coastguard in the afternoon 90 miles southwest of Paphos and transferred to a local hospital. The ship was en route from Tobruk towards the Middle East coast.
