UAV launched towards US warships
Between 10:00 a.m. and 5:20 p.m. (Sanaa time) on April 29, 2024, Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists fired three anti-ship ballistic missiles (ASBM) and three UAVs from Yemen into the Red Sea towards the 'Cyclades. Initial reports indicate there were no injuries and the vessel continued on its way. Earlier, at 7:49 a.m., U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) forces successfully engaged and destroyed one Houthi launched airborne unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) on a flight path towards the USS 'Philippine Sea' and USS 'Laboon' in the Red Sea. There were no injuries or damages reported by U.S., coalition, or merchant vessels.
Destroyer shot down ballistic missile in Gulf of Aden
The USS 'Laboon' destroyed an anti-ship ballistic missile fired by Houthi militants in Yemen on April 8, 2024, which was targeting the 'Maersk Yorktown' in the Gulf of Aden, which was being escorted by the U.S. Navy destroyer. It was determined the ABSM presented an imminent threat to U.S., coalition, and merchant vessels in the region. There were no injuries or damage reported. Yemen’s Houthi militants confirmed that a missile shot down was targeting the AP Moller-Maersk ship. The group also claimed to have launched two more operations against MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company vessels nearby.
Destroyer attacked by Houthis
Houthi rebels supported by Iran have fired a short-range ballistic missile at the “USS Laboon” in the Red Sea on March 12, 2024. It did not hit the vessel and there were no injuries or damage reported. The Centcom and a coalition ship successfully engaged and destroyed two unmanned drones that were launched from a Houthi-controlled area in Yemen.
