Trawler towed to safety
The "Good Fellowship" with three fishermen on board was towed to safety by the Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat in the morning of Mar 30, 2016, after the vessel became stranded 12 nautical miles east of Whitley Bay. The skipper of the Seahouses-based fishing vessel radioed Humber Coastguard for assistance shortly before 8 a.m. after the vessel’s propeller became fouled by its fishing gear, leaving it unable to make way or manoevre. The Tynemouth RNLI's volunteer crew were paged and launched the "Spirit of Northumberland" at 8.07 a.m. They reached the trawler at 08.39 a.m. The lifeboat’s tow rope was quickly attached to the trawler which was then towed to safety, arriving at North Shields Fish Quay at 10:20 a.m. Once the trawler was made fast on the quay the lifeboat was refuelled at Royal Quays marina and arrived back and ready for service again at the lifeboat station at 10:45 a.m. Report with photo: http://rnli.org/NewsCentre/Pages/Stranded-trawler-towed-to-safety-by-Tynemouth-RNLI-lifeboat.aspx
