Armed guard did it again
The Ukrainian armed guard who held the crew of the Eagle Bulk controlled supramax 'Jaeger' in July and who worked for private maritime security company (PMSC) Alphard, this week broke into the armoury onboard the 'Golden Palm' (ex 'Sultan'), operated by Spain’s Palm Charters, and took the crew hostage again in his fight over back pay. The tense standoff between the guard and the crew onboard the vessel which serves as a floating armoury and is currently in the Red Sea, has been resolved. He was one of three men who had been employed as security for a Gulf of Guinea transit of the 'Jaeger'.
Sultan, former Finnish hydrographic survey ship, leaves Baltic Sea
SULTAN left the Baltic via the Kiel Canal under the flag of Mongolia. She has just been renamed from PRISMA, a former Finnish hydrographic survey ship built 1978 by Rauma-Repola Oy and measures 60m and 1341 gt. She joins her elder company comrade SAARISTO (65/625gt) that became the ALADIN in November last year, now plying the Red Sea. Further Pics at http://kielerzwo.de/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1660
