Former C Ladybug sold in auction
The "C Ladybug" which had been idle in Antwerp since March 2013, was sold to Glovis at a bankruptcy auction for 53.6 million Euros this week. The ship, formerly owned by Taiwan Maritime Transportation, was taken under arrest because the owners were unable to pay their creditors. The ship was renamed "Glovis Solomon".
Safe berth for seized car carrier
On Jan 29, 2014, the "Ladybug C", after having been moored in the Deurganck dock in Antwerp for about onse year, was taken to a safer berth in the Fifth Haven dock, near the Oosterweel Bridge. The ship was ordered to be towed behind the locks by the Port Authority because it had gone adrift twice during storms before. Behind the locks and thus with no tide the ship is safe until the lawsuits with the Taiwanese shipping company TMT are cleared.
Adrift once more
On Jan 3, 2014, the "C. Ladybug" once again broke lose in a severe storm with Gusts of 125 km/h in the Deurganck dock in Antwerp at 4.25 p.m. Two tugs were able to bring the ship under control amidst the dock. Once the wind subsided, the ship was to be pulled back to its berth.
