Bulkcarrier refloated and taken to port
The "Glory First" refloated from its grounding site in the southern Kattegat near Yder Flak, NE of the island Samsoe, on Jan 23 at 7.40 p.m. after having pumped out ballast water, and reached the port of Aarhus on Jan 23 short before midnight and is actually being docked by the tugs "Aros" (IMO: 9259238) and "Hermes" (IMO: 7711799). The ship was detained for inspections by divers.
Bulkcarrier hard aground in Kattegat
The "Glory First" ran aground in the southern Kattegat in the night of Jan 21, 2016 short past midnight. The bulkcarrier was hard aground at Yder Flak. It was partially loaded with soybeans and en route from San Lorenzo in Argentina to Aarhus when the accident happened between Sjælland and Jylland. The Danish Navy sent the large support ship "Esbern Snare" in the night, in the morning also the anti pollution vessel "Mette Miljø" (IMO: 8002468) was sent from Grenaa. During the night's tide it was not possible to get the ship off. The Danish authorities detained it and were awaiting a salvage plan from the ship owners and insurance. Before developing a salvage plan, the ship was to be inspected by divers of EA Dykning. At 11 a.m. the Danish tug "Svitzer Trym" (IMO: 9548354) was dispatched to the casualty from Korsör. The "Glory First" refloated on Jan 23 at 7.40 p.m. and reached the port of Aarhus on Jan 23 short before midnight and is actually being docked by the tugs "Aros" (IMO: 9259238) and "Hermes" (IMO: 7711799).
