Golar’s FLNG Gimi finally set sail for Port Louis
The FLNG 'Gimi' has departed Singapore on Nov 19. 2023, en route to Port Louis. The vessel had been subject to force majeure declarations and arbitration disputes, before being able to finally leave the yard towards BP’s Greater Tortue Ahmeyim hub in West Africa. The vessel was also subject Tto an arbitration dispute between Golar LNG and BP over a contract-interpretation dispute.
Golar Awards Keppel Another Huge LNG Carrier Conversion Contract
Golar LNG awarded Keppel Shipyard a contract today worth approximatelyUSD $705 million to convert the 125,000 m3 LNG carrier Golar Gimi to a floating liquefaction facility (FLNGV). This is the second such order placed by Golar in the past week after they awarded Keppel a $735 million contract to convert the Golar Hilli into a FLNGV. Keppel Shipyard says the work scope for the conversion will be similar to that for the Hilli. Keppel Shipyard will provide the design, detailed engineering and procurement of the marine systems and all of the conversion-related construction services and Black & Veatch will provide design, procurement and commissioning support services for the topsides, as well as the liquefaction process utilizing its PRICO technology.
Keppel to Convert Second FLNGV for Golar
Keppel Shipyard Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd, informed that it is in the process of finalising contracts with Golar Gimi Limited (Golar Gimi), a subsidiary of Golar LNG Limited (Golar LNG), to perform the conversion of a second Moss LNG carrier, the GIMI, into a Floating Liquefaction Vessel (FLNGV). Earlier on 3 July 2014, Keppel Shipyard was awarded a firm contract by Golar Hilli Corporation (Golar Hilli) to perform the world's first-of-its-type conversion of a Moss LNG carrier, the HILLI, into an FLNGV, and the contract included options for another two similar units. The forthcoming conversion award of the GIMI will mark the exercise of the first of these two options. The work scope for Keppel Shipyard in converting the GIMI is expected to be similar to that for the HILLI. Keppel Shipyard will be responsible for the provision of the design, detailed engineering and procurement of the marine systems and all of the conversion-related construction services. It is also expected that Keppel Shipyard's scope will include engaging Black & Veatch to provide design, procurement and commissioning support services for the topsides and liquefaction process. http://69.65.42.212/news/convert-keppel-second376536.aspx
