Trawler assisted abandoned yacht
On Nov 3, 2020, the 'Geertruida' along with the SNSM boat from Dieppe and the Guépard Whiskey helicopter of the French Navy assisted the British s/y 'Le Bricoleur' which was disabled and adrift 20 miles off the coast. The CROSS Gris Nez was alerted between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. The French Navy helicopter was dispatched to assist at 11:15 a.m. The two boaters, of Czech nationality, were hoisted aboard and then transported to the hospital in Boulogne-sur-Mer (Pas-de-Calais). One of them was hypothermic. As the boat's engine had not been turned off, it was sailing on. The 'Geertruida' approached the yacht before the intervention of the SNSM boat on Nov 4. It took the 'Le Bricoleur', owned by a Dutchman in tow to to the port of Dieppe, where it arrived around 5.30 p.m. An investigation was opened by the gendarmerie. Propulsion loss at oil platform
On Dec 8, 2019, at 2.10 a.m. the 'Geertruida' suffered a mechanical failure in position 54 00 09.0 N, 003 55 38.4 W, about 2,5 miles southwest of the Millom West Platform. The loss of oil pressure in the gear box lead to a total loss of propulsion. The disabled vessel was at risk of drifting towards the platform. However, the vessel regained propulsion within five minutes and proceeded away from the area at 02.15 a.m. and headed to Whitehaven. The standby safety vessel 'VOS Pathfinder' was aware of the situation throughout and was on standby.
Trawerl disabled off Filey Brigg
The Filey RNLI lifeboat crew was tasked to the "Geertruida" that was in danger of being swept onto Filey Brigg on Oct 13, 2015. At high water, in a strong north-easterly wind and very heavy seas, Humber Coastguard requested the launch of Filey’s Mersey Class all-weather lifeboat "The Keep Fit Association" to assist the beam trawler, which had engine failure just over a mile north of Filey Brigg and which was being pushed quite rapidly towards land. Fortunately, just as the lifeboat was preparing to launch, the trawler crew were able to restart the engine and to carry on their passage. Consequently, the launch was cancelled and the ALB was stood down.
