Explosives smuggling kingpin held
Abbas Mandiri (55), a licensed explosives trader, is accused of sending a huge cache of explosives meant for quarrying purposes illegally to Andaman islands, raising serious doubts about the motive of the whole operation, Times of India reports. Abbas is the fifth person to be arrested in connection with the racket. While two of them were arrested in Andaman on June 21, two were arrested in Ramanathapuram and Chennai on June 26 by the police. The smuggling racket came to light on June 21 when personnel of the central crime branch in Andaman raided a consignment that arrived at the island port from Chennai.
