Allision in Hodeidah
The bulkcarrier "Magnum Fortune", while maneuvering into Hodeidah port, suffered an engine failure and allided with the "Gas Odyssey", which was moored at Dolphin berth no. 2 and discharging a cargo of liquid petroleum gas, on March 6, 2019, at 11.35 a.m. The bulkcarrier sustained railing and air vent pipe damage. The "Gas Odyssey" sustained slight scratches to the hull. With assistance of a tug, the bulk carrier was moored at berth no. 2 and commenced its cargo discharge at 5.50 p.m. The vessel was carrying 23,000 tons of wheat, bound from Djibouti to Hodeidah. The tanker sailed from Hodeidah on March 10, bound to Fujeirah, ETA March 16.
Perpetrators robbed ship's equipment off Kandla
The "Gas Odyssey", being anchored about 11 miles off Tekra Light, Kandla, was robbed on Oct 11, 2018. The watch crew found footprints on the main deck portside leading to forecastle and back to manifold area. Further investigation revealed that two scupper plugs and three cargo reducers were missing, believed to had been cut off with knife. The master suspected two perpetrators had boarded the ship with ladder and took away the items during early morning hours. He reported the incident to Indian Coast Guard, Kandla Port Trust and the agent of the ship. The Indian Coast Guard was investigating the incident in coordination with the Marine Police and port authorities of Mundra.
