Medevac off Roscoff

On Oct 13, 2024, at around 4:30 a.m., the fishing skipper of the "Maranello" was medevaced by a French Navy helicopter, while the vessel was 50 nautical miles north of Roscoff (Finistère). The 39-year-old man had been complaining of chest pain for two days. He therefore decided to call for help around 4:30 a,m. After consulting the doctors, it was decided to hoist him aboard the H160 helicopter of the French Navy. The patient was taken to Brest hospital. The response was coordinated by the CROSS Corsen.

Trawler took on water off St. Ives Head

The "Maranello - SB.933547", 150 gt, started taking on water 15 miles NNW of St. Ives Head on Aug 10, 2019, at 10.03 a.m. The St. Ives RNLI launched the all-weather lifeboat "Nora Stachura" into very poor weather conditions. With the faces of the waves at around 20 foot, the crew pushed on and made their way to the location. On arrival the crew established that the vessel was taking on water in the stern of the boat. The conditions were far too poor to transfer any salvage pump, or indeed any crew members onto the casualty vessel. Thankfully the crew of vessel was able to confirm to the crew that they had the intake of water under control. The SAR helicopter 924 was also on the scene, and as the conditions were too challenging for the crew to transfer, they were able to lower a winchperson with a salvage pump onto the casualty vessel. Again, as the conditions continued to be difficult, the pump was not as effective as it could have been, mainly because the vessel was moving up and down considerably; one minute the pump was under water and the next it wasn’t. The trawler crew continued to work with the pump, whilst the lifeboat accompanied them to ensure their safety, heading towards Lands End, the plan being that our crew would escort them on and hand over to another crew to see the casualty vessel into Newlyn. At 12.35 p.m. zjr Penlee lifeboat's crew also received a tasking request from Falmouth Coastguard and launched the all-weather lifeboat "Ivan Ellen" from Newlyn. Medevac off Batz

A crew member of the "Maranello" suffered hand injuries on Feb 12, 2017, in the English Channel. The 53-year-old chief engineer was injured about 100 km northwest of the island of Batz. A helicopter was deployed and transported the victim for treatment to an English hospital.
