237 migrants rescued alive, four recovered dead
On the morning of Oct 5, 2024, the CROSS Gris-Nez was informed of several departures of migrant boats from the coast of the Strait of Dover. The 'Abeille Normandie' was deployed to monitor one of the boats. Among its occupants, 15 were recovered, including an unconscious child. 23 migrants rescued from boat off Malo-les-Bains
On the early morning of Sep 22, 2024, the CROSS Gris-Nez was informed by the Dunkirk semaphore about a migrant boat off the beach of Malo-les-Bains and deployed the PSP 'Flamant' to locate and monitor the boat, with the help of the SPYNEL infrared cameras installed at the CROSS Gris-Nez. After several hours of navigation, some people on board requested assistance from the 'Flamant' which then recovered 23 people on board, The other occupants wishing to continue the voyage. Given the risks of falling overboard or injury incurred by the people in the event of a forced intervention, the decision was made to let them continue on their way. The people assisted were dropped off at the quay at the port of Calais.
