Saeftinge sank Barracuda
The "Saeftinge" on its way to Antwerp overran the motor yacht "Barracuda" on Sep 28 at 6.30 a.m. on the Westerscheldt off Terneuzen east of the old ferry port. The accident occurred in dense mist. Alarm was raised, and the KNRM-boat "Zeemannshoop" rushed to the scene, but the crew of 2 was already rescued by the "Veborunner" of the Verenigde Bootlieden B.V. and taken to a waiting ambulance at Terneuzen. The salvage company Hoondert raised the foreship of the wreck with the crane ship "Octopus" and transported it to Flushing. The stern was still missing.
