Grounded container ship refloated
On March 2, 2021, the 'Shahraz' has been refloated by five tugs. The vessel ran aground on May 10, 2020, and was stuck in the same position off the island of Batam since. Significant repair work has been done to the vessel to make it seaworthy again. It will still have to be assessed for more repair works in Yangshan and was moored in pos. 01° 10.91' N 103° 52.34' E as of March 3, held by the tugs 'Asd. Gema 5', 'Kt Hang Tuah V', 'Tb Hemingway 2400', 'Tb. Hemingway 3200' and 'Tc Vigour'. Container ship crashed into grounded vessel
In the night of Nov 22, 2020, short before midgnight, the container m/v 'Tina 1' (IMO: 9267156), which had sailed from the Pasir Panjang-Terminal in Singapore at 11 p.m. headed to Jakarta, crashed into the stern of the 'Shahraz' in the Strait of Singapore and got stuck with a list to port side in the same position at its stern in pos. 01° 11.21' N 103° 52.82' E. The 'Shahraz' had run aground south of St John Island on May 10 en route from Port Klang to Yangshan. The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation dispatched two patrol boats were to carry out surveillance and security to the scene. Lightering ops going on
The 'Shahraz' remained aground in pos. 01°11’15.05” N, 103°52’51.02” E as of Aug 11. The tugs 'Qsa 79' and 'SM XXI', 'Sse Alexandria' and 'Sse Natalie' were working on site along with cranes and barges. The deck cargo has been removed in the meantime. The ship had a slight list to port side and was deep in the water.
