Glass broke in adverse weather
On April 17, 2024, at noon, the Port Authority of Milos was informed by the master of the'Express Jet', that due to adverse weather conditions, the ship would return to the port on a scheduled route from Milos to Folegandros, Thira, Naxos, Paros and Mykonos with 15 crew members and 73 passengers on board. When the ship docked in the port, it was found that a pane of glassof the wheelhouse was broken, and the Milos Port Authority banned the ferry from sailing, until the damage was repaired and a certificate of seaworthiness was presented by the attending classification society. The ship remained stationary as of April 18. The passengers were forwarded to the their destinations by the ship-owning company.
Engine trouble in Parikia
The Port Authority of Paros was informed in the morning of Aug 23, 2022, by the Master of the "Sifnos Jet" about a malfunction of the port side main engine while the ship was docked in the port of Parikia, Paros. The Port Authority initially prohibited the ship from sailing until the presentation of a class maintenance certificate from the classification society which is monitoring it. After the presentation of the corresponding certificate, the ship was allowed to continue the approved route from Paros to Naxos, Mykonos, Tino and Rafina.
Allision in Rafina
The Port Authority of Rafina was informed on June 28, 2022, at noon that during the disembarkation process of passengers of the 'Sifnos Jet' following its arrival in the port of Rafina en route from the port of Tinos, the bow hit the north inner jetty due to strong waves and gusts of wind. No injuries were reported from the incident and no marine pollution was caused. A small hole was torn into the bow of the ship. The Central Port Authority of Rafina, which was conducting the preliminary investigation, banned the departure of the ferry until the damage was repaired and a certificate of seaworthiness presented by the monitoring classification society. The passengers destined for the ports of Tinos, Mykonos, Naxos and Paros were forwarded to their destinations aboard the ferry 'Superstar'.
