Bravo Zulu for successful joint rescue operation
In the morning of Feb 28, 2017, the "Esvagt Sigma" received a mayday call from the two masted Norwegian sailing vessel "Blåmann", which had begun to take in water and had lost propulsion in the Northsea southwest of Bergen. The "Esvagt Sigma" was released from her standby duties at the "Transocean Leader" and sent to the rescue. The distance was 15 miles with wind forces of 6-7 Beaufort and a stiff breeze of about 16 m / s. The "Esvagt Sigma" deployed an FRB. The crew first tried to salvage the sailing vessel which, besides the water ingress in the engine room also lacked fuel. At the same time the "Esvagt Alpha" was heading towards the "Esvagt Sigma" to carry out a crew change. At the time of arrival at the pleasure craft, it was concluded that the ship could not be saved, and the four crew members were taken aboard the "Esvagt Alpha". After they were safely recovered, they were taken ashore at Bergen. Subsequently, the crews of the two Esvagt ships got an appreciative and very well deserved "Bravo Zulu".
