Tanker detained after inspection
Following an inspection aboard the 'Epic Burano' which was carried out on Feb 21 at noon at the port of Kalamata by an authorized PSC/PARIS MOU inspector, a detention measure was imposed after the detection of serious offenses. The Central Port Authority of Kalamata imposed the administrative penalties. The tanker remained moored in pos. 37° 0.38' N 022° 6.85' E as of Feb 24. It left the bay again on March at 6.45 p.m., headed to Aspropyrgos. The tanker dropped anchor off Piraeus in pos. 37° 50.89' N 023° 31.53' E on March 4 at 12.30 p.m.
Tanker damaged by fire
On Feb 20, 2020, the Kalamata Port Authority was informed about the arrival of the 'Epic Burano' with 16 crew members on board at the port in order to receive supplies and conduct inspections and repairs to the engine room which had suffered extensive fire damageon Feb 19. Damaged were the incinerator, the cauldron and the adjoining area. No injuries and no omarine pollution were repirte. The tanker rrived on Feb 21 at 5.20 a.m. and was detained by the Central Port Authority of Kalamata until repairs were completed and a class certificate issued by the ship's registrar. It was moored in pos. 37° 0.37' N 022° 6.77' E as of Feb 22 on the Kalamata anchorage.
Tanker boarded by pirates
In January 2014 Dryad Maritime Intelligence have reported the boarding of the "Super League" 55 NM off the coast of Equatorial Guinea’s border with Gabon. The ship had sailed from Owendo on Jan 4 and from Douala on Jan 9 enroute to Port Louis with an ETA of Jan 24. This was then followed by the hijacking and kidnapping of three crew members from cargo vessel "San Miguel" just 20 NM off the coast of Bata, Equatorial Guinea.
