Second Special Survey successfully carried out at Damen Shiprepair
The "Emma Maersk" completed her second Special Survey plus assorted maintenance works at the Damen Shipyard in Brest, including the removal and subsequent refit of the propeller, which is amongst the heaviest in the world. Other works included the inspection of the boiler valves, ship side valves, inspection of the anchor and chains, and a complete wash down of the antifouling area, a total of 24,850 m²The ship departed from Damen Shiprepair Brest on Feb 29.
Emma Maersk pulled by Abeille Bourbon
The "Emma Maersk" was taken in tow as an exercise by the tug "Abeille Bourbon" off Brest in rough weather on Mar 1. The vessel was towed for around three hours at speeds of between three and five knots, and was taken to a sheltered area for maintenance work. To keep the stability without containers, the "Emma Maersk" was ballasted with 100 000 tonnes water before. The vessel, en route from Brest to Bremerhaven, was subsequently located at anchor 16 nautical miles off Ostend, in lat 51 25 16.72N, long 02 36 09.22E, on Mar 3 at 1.41 p.m. UTC. Container ship now in dock
The "Emma Maersk" entered the dry dock No. 3 in Brest in the early afternoon of Feb 14. At Damen Shiprepair Brest the hull will be cleaned and some other work carried out within about a week.
