Nuclear waste reached Lubmin
The "Eda" with the barge "Lastdrager 40" carrying nuclear waste reached Lubmin in the midday hours ofJune 4 and berthed in the industry port. The cargo was to be loaded off until June 5. The transport had started on May 4 and was accompanied by protests.
Disputed nuclear waste transport sailing again
The "Edo" carrying a barge with nuclear waste continued its voyage on the Elbe-Havel-Canal on June 1, passing Burg and Genthin towards Lubmin. In the midday hours the police handed over the control to the Brandenburg authorities while the transport is heading towards the Oder and the coastal waters of Pomerania to Lubmin. On May 31 opponents had gathered at the lock Niegripp, some jumping into the Elbe-Havel-Canal in order to stop the ship which, however, had already berthed for the night hours. Nuclear waste enroute to Brandenburg
The "Edo" carrying nuclear waste from the decommissioned nuclear power plant in Obrigheim left Saxony-Anhalt in the morning of June 1, 2012, on schedule. It sailed from the Elbe-Havel canal in the direction of Brandenburg where it was expected to arrive around noon. The destination of the nuclear waste is the temporary storage Lubmin. The cargo consists two 17 meter long 160-ton steam generators and two 22-ton pumps. The parts are to be disassembled and cleaned in Lubmin and then taken back to the Obrigheim NPP which was shut down after 37 years in 2005.
