Container ship saved yacht crew after days adrift
A crew of four was safely recovered from their disabled 11-metre yacht "Kiss" after five days adrift by the "Kota Teguh", which rendered assistance to the crew while en route to Kolkata on Feb 28, 2016. The Vessel Traffic Control and Maritime Security Centre at the Phuket Marine Office notified the Royal Thai Navy air-sea rescue division of the yacht in distress at 8.04 p.m. The naval officers also dispatched patrol boat HTMS "Klaeng" to the last known position of the yacht, about 52 nautical miles south of Phuket and recovered the crew from the "Kota Teguh" which had taken them aboard in the meantime. The patrol boat returned to Phuket with the SY "Kiss" under tow and docked at the Third Area Command pier at Cape Panwa on Feb 29 at 6:20 p.m. All four, the British national Colin David Osmond, 37, and the three Canadians Maryse Doyes, 69; Jacques Doyes, 64; and Andre Belzile, 74, were sent to Vachira Hospital in Phuket to check their health.
