Tanker boarded by armed robbers
The "Maersk Maya" was boarded by armed robbers while she was anchored in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on Feb 22, 2018. The security team saw a group of armed men board the ship’s forecastle area. The crew raised the alarm, causing the perpetrators to fire warning shots. The crew then managed to hide inside the accommodation blocks. The perpetrators cut the mooring rope eye and left the ship. It was not known whether they took anything off the ship. All crew members were reportedly safe and unharmed. The incident was reported to the local authorities. The tanker was currently underway using engine, bound for Houston, USa.
