Fire in engine room

On Oct 12, 2020, a fire broke out in the engine room of the 'Di Giunta E' at Campana in the Paraná Delta. Firefighters from Campana and from 4 nearby towns and the Naval Prefecture were deployed to the scene where the tanker had been carrying out unloading works for the Aridos Campana company. The fire spread from the engine room to the galley and cabins, and caused dense smoke. The firefighting was also complicated by the enormous amount of grease in the lower part of the ship. Some 30 firefighters worked at the site with four crews from Central 37, supported by the Prefecture and firefighters from General Sarmiento, San Miguel, Escobar and Garín. There were no injuries. Late in the night, personnel from the Argentine Naval Prefecture was still working to finish the cooling tasks.
