Ship from Ukraine arrived off Bosphorus

Thu Sep 21 11:20:26 CEST 2023 Timsen

The "Resilient Africa" arrived off the Bosphorus Strait on Sep 21, being the first vessel loaded with grain from Ukraine to sail in and out of the Black Sea using a temporary corridor. The ship had left the port of Chornomorsk with 3,000 metric tons of grain, headed to Israel with an ETA as of Sep 27. Ukraine had announced a "humanitarian corridor" to release ships bound for African and Asian markets, and to circumvent a de facto blockade after Russia abandoned a deal this summer that had guaranteed its exports during the war.

First ship with grain leaves Ukraine

Tue Sep 19 11:18:41 CEST 2023 Timsen

The 'Resilient Africa', carrying a cargo of 3.000 tons grain, has left the port of Chornomorsk for the first time since a grain deal collapsed, on Sep 18 in a test of Ukraine's ability to unblock its seaports for grain export. The ship was now heading towards the Bosphorus. It had been the first of two vessels that entered Chornomorsk last week through a temporary corridor for civilian vessels established by the Ukrainian Navy. The 'Resilient Africa' and 'Aroyat' arrived in Ukraine on Sep 17 and were due to depart after loading almost 20,000 metric tons of wheat for Africa and Asia. The 'Aroyat' was still moored in Chornomorsk and was being loaded with wheat for Egypt. The loading is a test of Ukraine's ability to reopen shipping lanes at a time when Russia is trying to re-impose its de facto blockade. Two more Russian blockade breakers

Mon Sep 18 10:03:27 CEST 2023 Timsen

Two cargo ships, the 'Resilient Africa', en route from Constanta, and the bulk carrier 'Aroyat' (IMO: 9151395), coming from Istanbul entered Ukrainian waters on Sep 16, 2023, breaking the Russian blockade to Ukrainian ports. She moored at the northern anchorage of Chornomorsk on Sep 18 at 3 a.m. in pos. 46° 18.95' N 030° 40.39' E. The 'Aroyat' berthed in Chornomorsk on Sep 16 at 5.10 p.m. UTC. Both ships are to be loaded with grain and have crews including citizens of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Egypt and Ukraine on board and are operated by Turkish companies.
