Tank barge entered repair yard after collision
The Luxembourg flagged tank barge "Bernhard Burmester", 1386 ts (EU-No.: 08043011), after its head-on-collision with the "Dettmer Tank 81", 1318 ts (EU-No.: 4010280), on May 7 has been refloated on the Elbe-Side-Canal at Bad Bodenteich and berthed at the Hitzler Yard in Lauenburg on May 9 at 4 p.m. The "Dettmer Tank 81" had reached the yard already on May 8 at 10.30 a.m. for repairs of breaches in the bow which were completed on Sep 23.
Tank barges in collision
The "Bernhard Burmester", 1386 ts (EU-No.: 08043011), was in a head-on-collision with the "Dettmer Tank 81", 1318 ts (EU-No.: 4010280), on the Elbe-Side-Canal at Bad Bodenteich in the Uelzen municipality in the morning of May 7, 2017. Due to unknown reasons one of the tank barges got into the course in the other, and both ships got entangled. They tried to reach a wharf in a distance of two kilometers. The "Bernhard Burmester" sugmerged with the bow. Around midday rescue forces were able to seperate the ships and secure them at the canal shore with the bow of the "Bernhard Burmester" resting on the bottom. The damage was estimated to be in the six-digit range. Tanker captain caught with an alcohol level of 2,29 ‰
The master of the "Dettmer Tank 81" was caught with a alcohol level of 2,29 by the Police Hamburg in the evening of Apr 11, 2013. Previously he had managed to moor the tanker in a waiting area in front of the power plant Moorburg which was a masterpiece with his alcohol level. Officials of the Water Police had received information that the captain of the "Dettmer Tank 81" was drunk. When they went on board and checked it, they immediately noticed the man's breath alcohol. A test conducted the value of 2.29 ‰. They confiscated the certificates and prohibited the further movement of the ship.
