Ship still on rocks 1,5 years after grounding
The 'Deimos' became a total loss following an engine failue off Fogo, Cap Verdes, on Nov 13, 2020. The ship drifted onto the rocks of the coast and remained there since. Assvik adrift in Bristol Channel
The "Aasvik" suffered engine failure 8,5 miles south east of Tenbyand went adrift in the Bristol Channel in the afternoon of Feb 1, 2016 in stormy weather. The vessel drifted in western direction. Tenby’s all-weather lifeboat launched just after 11 p.m. The crew of the vessel were attempting to deploy their anchor, but due to the swell and the risk of the vessel grounding if the anchor failed to hold, the lifeboat was requested. The Mumbles lifeboat was also put on stand-by. The lifeboat was soon on scene and stood by in rough seas as the crew of the casualty vessel secured the anchor. The ship finally dropped anchor west of Rhossili in the Swansea area.
