Grounding off Alcudia
On April 9, 2021, Salvamento Marítimo assisted the 'Davanik', which had run aground at 3.15 a.m. with 12 crew members on board in the approach of the port of Alcúdia in a shallow area. The MRCC mobilized the 'Salvamar Saiph' for inspections and support work. The tug 'Catalina' pulled the ship off. It entered the port with own power at 5.15 a.m. and sailed again on April 10 at 10.15 p.m., headed to Agusta.
Engine trouble off Portland Bill
The 'Danavik', en route from Terneuze to Setubal with 12 crew members on board, suffered a problem with its main engine clutch in position 50 06 24 N, 002 02 01 W, on March 28, 2020, at 11.05 p.m. about 34 miles from Portland Bill. The vessel headed to Nab Anchorage with own power to carry out repairs. The Southampton VTS was aware of the situation and the Solent Coastguard monitoring the vessel on C-Scope. At 5.40 p.m. on March 29 the repairs were completed and the cement carrier resumed its voyage with an ETA as of April 1 at 11 p.m.
Steering failure off Varne Bank
The 'Danavik', en route from Terneuzen to Setubal, suffered a steering failure and a possible loss of propulsion in position 50 51 46 N, 001 13 00 E, at on Feb 18, 2020, at 6.50 p.m. The unloaded vessel dropped anchor to resolve the issues, which was expected to take two hours. The 'Danavik' was in close proximity to the Varne Bank and Colbart Bank within the southwest lane of the Dover TSS. The tug 'Abeille Languedoc' was on standby off Bolounge-sur-Mer, for assistance, if required. On Feb 19 at 12.30 a.m. the damage was fixed and the ship underway again with an ETA as of Feb 23.
