Fire in the Red Sea
A fire broke out aboard the "Shahr E Kord" in pos. 15 50 N, 041 11 E, in the Red Sea, on the upper deck on July 28, 2019. The crew members extinguished the fire with help from the alerted tug "Mississippi" (IMO: 9305726),the same day after a distress call was received by the CROSS Réunion. The tug, jointly with the tug "Baltic Pearl" (IMO: 9321598), was towing the Iranian VLCC "Happiness I" to Khor Fakkan at that time. On July 27 the "Shahr E Kord" headed to Bandar Abbas, ETA Aug 1.
Detention in Misrata
The "Shahr E Kord" with 144 containers on board berthed at Misrata Libya on April 26, and was declared detained. A thorough check of ship and containers did not show any prohibited goods, according to the Libyan Interior Ministry. The ship nevertheless was banned from leaving port, because the ship has been listed in the US-EU sanctions, imposed on Iranian shipping and Iranian ships.
Ship probably carrying arms for Syrian rebels arrived at Misrata from Burgas
The "Shahr E Kord" approached Misrata in the morning of April 23, 2019, and finally moored on the anchorage, coming from Burgas. According to governmental officials and military, the ship was loaded with arms and ammunition, destined for rebels or militants controlling Misrata. Bulgaria is known for producing and selling arms to Middle East countries, including most vulnerable ones. The ship was monitored and reported by a number of international bodies.
