Allision at Limehouse Reach

Tue Jan 30 16:31:26 CET 2018 Timsen

On Jan 29, 2018, at 08.55 a.m. the "Cyclone Clippper" allided with the Greenland Pier at Limehouse Reach upon the river Thames. The vessel's master informed the Port of London Authority that one passenger was injured. The ferry remained alongside the pier until paramedics had assisted the passenger and the Port of London Authority had investigated the situation on scene.

Cruise boat involved in rescue of man in the Thames

Thu Apr 03 11:29:55 CEST 2014 Timsen

A London lifeboat crew and the "Cyclone Clipper" were involved in the rescue of a man in the Thames close to HMS "Belfast" on Arp 2, 2014. The man was clinging precariously to a barge in the middle of the river. After receiving a call from London Coastguard at 8 p.m. the lifeboat crew was quickly on scene where the "Cyclone Clipper" was in the vicinity and able to indicate that the man was clinging to the upstream side of a driftwood collecting barge. The casualty was in a very precarious position. There was a 2-3 knot tide running at the time of the call, had it been a faster spring tide, he could very easily have been sucked under or even into the collecting hopper where among the rubbish and debris it would have been very hard to get him out. The lifeboat got close enough to the overhanging edge of the barge that the men could grab hold of him. While his condition was assessed he suggested that there was someone else in the water. So after quickly handing him over to a waiting ambulance at St Catherines Docks, the RNLI was joined by the police boat, London Fire brigade boat and a police helicopter in an extensive search of the area. After a thorough search, and further investigation into the cause of the incident, the rescue services were confident that there was no second person missing. Nothing was found and the search was stood down at 8.40 p.m. Report with photo: http://rnli.org/NewsCentre/Pages/London-RNLI-lifeboat-crew-rescue-person-clinging-to-a-barge-in-the-middle-of-the1.aspx
