Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line to Start with Costa Celebration in late February
Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line will start operating two-night cruises aboard the new-to-them Costa Celebration in late February, according to reports. Celebration Cruise Line and the damaged Bahamas Celebration are being replaced by the new company and ship. The ship will sail from Palm Beach to the Bahamas on a two-night program.
Celebration Cruise with New Ship in 2015
After an incident with the Bahamas Celebration in October, Celebration Cruise Lines seems set to rebound, and perhaps under a new company name, according to a report in the Freeport News. The report, quoting Prime Minister Perry G. Christie, said the company will re-launch service in early 2015 under a new brand, and with a new ship – which is widely believed to be the former Costa Celebration. “The new Grand Celebration replacement ship comes with 50 percent more capacity and projects approximately 280,000 year-round passengers with not less than 100,000 electing to purchase a two or more night stay in Grand Bahama, with the cruise boosting room nights (from) just under 50,000 in 2014 to 125,000 minimum in 2015,” said the minister.
Ship’s winter season cancelled
After a drydocking to turn her from the Grand Celebration to the Costa Celebration, the ship’s winter season has been cancelled, according to the Italian company. Costa said in a released statement to Cruise Industry News that the Celebration will no longer be part of the fleet starting on November 22. Booked guests will be re-ticketed on other Costa ships. 2015 deployment will be taken over by the neoClassica. The vessel is rumored to have been sold or leased elsewhere, although no cruise operator has stepped forward yet.
