Bulk carrier located boat with 47 people on board
In the evening of Feb 8, 2024, the Port Authorities of Chania, Rethymno, Heraklion, Kale Ports, Agia Galina, Paleochora and Kokkinos Pyrgos were informed by the Unified SAR Center of the Greek Coast Guard that a boat was in difficulty 25 nautical miles south of Gavdos, with a sufficient number of people on board. The 'Queen Alesia' located the vessel and reported 47 people. They were transferred to a lifeguard boat, which took them to the port of Agia Galini, and then they were transferred to a temporary accommodation facility in Rethymnon.
