Ferry damaged by fire
The "Coral Island 1", which was under repair at the tourism jetty in Lagkawi, caught fire on Apr 5, 2016, at 10.15 a.m. The ferry was berthed at the Jeti Pelancongan. The fire rescue took about 45 minutes to put out the fire. Early investigations found the fire started in the middle deck before spreading to the captain's room. The wheelhouse was gutted, about 30 % of the ship damaged. The cause of the fire and amount of loss were still being investigated. Already on Mar 23 another ferry caught fire while being repaired at Limbungan Boustead, Tanjung Lembong.
