Barge allided with bridge

On June 1, 2016, at 5.30 p.m. the "Cooperation", 1080 ts (EU-No.: 06000502), allided with the Brielen Bridge on the Willebroek-Canal in Tisselt. The wheelhouse was completely destroyed, and the Renault Clio of the master was puhsed into the water. Traffic on the bridge was immediately stopped and rescue services alerted. The crew of two remained uninjured. The master was able to save himself in the last second before the impact. Divers of the fire rescue were called to locate the sunken vehicle on the bottom of the canal. After they found it, it was recovered by a mobile crane. The police of Antwerp launched an investigation into the accident. The master stated that he thought to be able to pass under the bridge which could be released for traffic after investigations showed she had withstood the allision without significant damage. The "Cooperation" meanwhile moved to the shipyard Bocxe BV in Delft for repairs.
