Man rescued after falling over board from deck 7
A man went overboard the 'Coastal Inspiration' on Aug 27, 2020, at 11.30 a.m. from deck 7. The vessel was on its scheduled 10:15 a.m. sailing from Duke Point to Tsawwassen at the time of the incident. The crew launched one of its rescue boats. Another vessel was on scene and retrieved the male from the water. He was then transferred from the pleasure craft to the rescue boat. The 'Queen of Alberni', the other vessel on the route, stopped to render assistance if required. A Coast Guard vessel arrived on scene and the man was transferred to the Hovercraft. The Coast Guard vessel departed the scene at approximately 12:10 p.m. Both ferries were running behind schedule as a result of the incident.
Ferry delayed due to medical emergency
The "Coastal Inspiration", serving on the Tsawwassen-Duke Point route, was running 43 minutes behind schedule due to a medical emergency on June 25, 2019. To maintain reservations, passengers were asked to check in at in accordance with the scheduled sailing times.
Sailings cancelled due to longer repairs
A planned repair to a propeller hub on the "Coastal Inspiration" at Vancouver Drydock was taking longer than expected. Since there were no other vessels to replace her, BC Ferries has been forced to cancel some reservations on some scheduled sailings between Horseshoe Bay and Departure in Nanaimo. The cancelled sailings were from June 23. 2018, to June 29. The "Coastal Inspiration" was expected to be ready by June 30.
