Two stowaways removed from rudder in Antwerp
Two stowaways hided aboard the 'CMA CGM Jamaica' and were taken off by the fire brigade in the afternoon of Sep 28, 2023, after it was moored in the Zandvliet lock en route to Antwerp. The fire brigade received a request from the federal police to help them capture the two Africans who had probably been hiding in the rudder compartment of the container ship. The fire brigade attended with its diving team. The vessel had left the port of Lagos on Sep 15 with Antwerp as the next stop. The two men emerged when the ship had docked in the lock. They were safely removed from the ship and taken by ambulance to a nursing station to examine them. Collision in fog
