Mexican Navy detected a shipment of more than 200 kilograms of methamphetamine
The Mexican Navy Secretariat detected a shipment of more than 200 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in the engine room of the 'CMA CGM Dignity', that docked in the port of Manzanillo, Colima, on July 16, 2024. The drug was seized by the Mexican Navy, in its Coast Guard functions, who, in coordination with personnel from the X Naval Region and the Attorney General's Office (FGR), managed to secure 128 packages of a granulated substance with the characteristics of methamphetamine. The alleged drug had a total weight of 214.1 kilograms, enough for the manufacture of more than 5 million doses of crystal and, according to authorities' calculations, it could reach a value in the illegal market of up to 3 million dollars. The methamphetamine was hidden on the port side of the ship, right where the cooling system of its main engine is located. The drugs were found in black suitcases that contained packages wrapped in cardboard and plastic giving them rectangular shapes.
