Sold to Chinese breakers
Hoegh Autoliners has sold two of its older auto transport vessels PCTC, for scrapping. Changes in the Southeast Asian short sea market led to the decision to scrap the "City of Mumbai" and "Hoegh Chennai". , both built in 1987, and 6,500 car units. The market dynamics around Sinor Lines changed and led to the decision to close their service in January 2017. Sinor Lines was a joint venture, which started in 2013 between Hoegh Autoliners and CSC RoRo. The two vessels were sold to Grieg Green and will be scrapped and recycled in Jiang Men City at the Zhong Xin Shipbreaking & Steel Co.
Suffered engine failure south of Lavrion, Greece
On June 14 2012 vehicle carrier City of Mumbai suffered engine failure 2.2 nm east of Kea island, south of Lavrion, near Piraeus, Greece. Lavrion Port Authority planned to send a tug but vessel reported problem was fixed. Nevertheless, City of Mumbai was ordered to a safe anchorage near Lavrion for survey. Vessel left anchorage late at night June 14 and resumed voyage. Maritime Bulletin http://www.odin.tc
