Breaking mooring rope damaged vehicle

Before the departure of the 'Champion Jet 2' from Sifnos for the execution of its scheduled route and while the vessel was still moored at the wharf, the starboard stern mooring rope was severed due to adverse weather conditions on the morning of July 19, 2024. The rope hit a two-wheeled vehicle with two passengers, causing the vehicle and its passengers to fall onto the pier. Officials of the Port Authority went to the scene immediately, where the citizens were found in good health, while damage was found to thei vehicle. Afterwards, they boarded the vessel bound for Milos where, after docking at the port, they went to the Milos Health Center for a medical check-up and then disembarked without further hospitalization. A preliminary investigation was carried out by the Sifnos Port Station.

Engine trouble off Sifnos

In the afternoon of Aug 29, 2022, the Port Authority of Sifnos was informed by the Master of the 'Champion Jet 2' that en route from the port of Serifos to the port of Sifnos, a mechanical failure occurred in the port side external main engine. The ship sailed safely to the port of Sifnos, where it disembarking the 92 passengers. The Port Authority of Sifnos initially prohibited the sailing of the ship. Uupon presentation of a certificate of class maintenance and a seaworthiness certificate from the classification society that monitors it, the ship was allowed to sail with three main engines.

Ferry suffered engine damage

On June 1, 2022, the 'Champion Jet 2', operating on the route from Naxos to Thira, suffered a mechanical damage to one of its four engines. The ship had 943 people and 33 crew members on board. It was able to continue its voyage to the port of Thira, where the passengers disembarked safely. The observer of the classification society permitted the ship to continue its voyage with three main engines.
