Search for missing child suspended

The 'Ridley' participated in the Csearch for the missing Hunter Slezak, aged seven years, which was suspended on the evening of Dec 1, 2024, after locating and recovering two boaters deceased south of Dauphin Island, Alabama. Rescue crews from the Coast Guard and partner agencies searched by air and sea for approximately 65.2 combined hours and covered more than 2,042 square miles, after the 'Marty Ann' was reported overdue on the evening of Nov 29. with three people on board. The Coast Guard Sector Mobile Command Center issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast and directed the launch of an Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 aircrew and a Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island response boat. The vessel had departed from the Billy Goat Hole Boat Ramp on Dauphin Island and was last heard from on the afternoon of Nov 29. On the afternoon of Nov 30, a boat crew of the Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island found a debris field approximately nnine miles south of Dauphin Island. They searched the area and located Sam Wooley, 69, and Michael Slezak, 40, both deceased. Rescue crews involved in the search: • Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile • Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans • Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island • Coast Guard Cutter Ridley • Alabama Law Enforcement Agency • Dauphin Island Police Department • Mississippi Wing - Civil Air Patrol • Lower Alabama Search and Rescue • Multiple good Samaritan boaters.

Coast Guard assisted distressed yacht

The US Coast Guard assisted a disabled sailing vessel by providing a tow 97 miles south of Pensacola, Florida, on June 11, 2022. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report of a sailing vessel demasted and nearly out of fuel. An Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew and the crew of the 'Ridley' were launched to assist. The HC-144 was able to locate the vessel and establish communications. Once on scene, the Coast Guard Cutter set towing lines and safely towed the vessel to a position seven miles south of Mobile Bay, where the vessel was then transferred to TowboatUS. Assistance for distressed pleasure boat

A boat crew of the 'Ridley' and other Coast Guard means assisted a vessel in distress that was taking on water offshore Pensacola, Florida, on May 7, 2020. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a distress call at about 1 a.m from the recreational vessel 'Liberty Call', which had struck a submerged object and was taking on water, with two passengers and a dog on board. A Coast Guard Station Pensacola 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crew arrived on scene and was able to get the flooding under control. The crew used a portable pump to maintain safe water levels, and towed the vessel to Lost Key Marina. Besides the Coast Guard Station Pensacola 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crew also a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrewand a boat crew of the 'Ridley' were mobilized.
